About the role
Solar and Battery Engineer
We are looking for an experienced Engineer with experience in solar and battery technology to join our clean energy company. The Solar and Battery Engineer will be responsible for installing, repairing, and monitoring solar and battery equipment and installations. Candidates should be knowledgeable about solar panels, inverters, and batteries and able to work with a variety of sizes and manufacturers. The Solar and Battery Engineer will also play a key role in training and mentoring other members of the MykroGrid team
Responsibilities
Solar and Battery Equipment Management:
· Follow and update protocols for proper storage of batteries in company warehouse
· Proactively identify any issues with equipment and raise issues to management when necessary
· Troubleshoot issues with batteries or inverters and develop timely solutions
· Properly train other engineers on correct installation and management of solar panels, inverters, and batteries, and assist during installation if necessary
System Design and Development
· Design solar systems including panel placement, cable routing, and connection work based on site assessments and project requirements
· Work with MykroGrid management to maintain up-to-date installation templates to allow team members to easily install smaller systems
Project Management
· Manage team members during installations to ensure project meets quality standards and project deadlines
· Work with engineering team and project managers to develop standardized installation processes to optimize installations
· Coordinate with site personnel to ensure seamless integration of solar system within existing infrastructure, where applicable
· Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.
Technical Support and Maintenance
· Provide remote support to teammates working on solar installations
· Work with MykroGrid customer support team to provide troubleshooting and support as needed to customers after their system is installed. Some on-call availability will be required in this position
· Collaborate with maintenance teams to develop maintenance schedules and procedures
Documentation
· Maintain accurate records of project specifications, installations, and performance data
Qualifications
· At least 2 years of experience working with solar and battery technology
· Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably in electrical, mechanical, or renewable energy engineering) with experience with solar and battery technology
· Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in solar engineering or related field is a plus
· Strong knowledge of solar energy principles and system components
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
· Effective communication and interpersonal abilities
· Experience with project management and coordination
Work Site: Benin City, Edo State
Travel up to 50% may be required by this role •
