Sr. Data Governance Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage enterprise data governance and metadata management solutions using Collabra or similar governance platforms.
• Configure and customize business glossaries, data catalogs, governance policies, standards, stewardship workflows, and operating models.
• Partner with business and technical stakeholders to define data ownership, stewardship responsibilities, and governance processes.
• Implement and manage open-source metadata management frameworks such as Open Metadata.
• Integrate Open Lineage solutions to enable end-to-end data lineage across enterprise data pipelines and analytical platforms.
• Customize APIs, ingestion connectors, and metadata models to support enterprise governance and metadata requirements.
• Integrate governance solutions with AWS cloud services including S3, Glue, Redshift, Athena, Lambda, and EMR.
• Collaborate with data engineering teams to embed governance controls into AWS-based data pipelines and architectures.
• Ensure governance frameworks support scalable, cloud-native data platforms and enterprise data strategies.
• Enable automated technical and business lineage across batch processing and streaming data pipelines.
• Support implementation of data quality frameworks, controls, validation rules, and monitoring solutions.
• Develop and maintain metadata standards, lineage documentation, and governance best practices across enterprise platforms.
• Integrate governance tools with enterprise data lakes, data warehouses, analytics platforms, and BI solutions.
• Support compliance, regulatory, and audit requirements through strong governance and metadata management practices.
• Analyze and resolve metadata, lineage, and data quality issues across multiple systems and platforms.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams including business users, data architects, data engineers, and analytics teams.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives for metadata management, governance automation, and data quality processes.
• Provide governance reporting, dashboards, and insights to support enterprise data management initiatives.
• Demonstrate strong understanding of metadata models, data lineage concepts, and enterprise data governance frameworks.
• Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to align governance initiatives with business objectives.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in Data Governance, Metadata Management, or Enterprise Data Management.
• Strong hands-on experience with Collabra or similar enterprise data governance platforms.
• Practical experience with Open Metadata, Open Lineage, and open-source governance frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of AWS cloud services and enterprise data platform integration.
• Experience supporting governance initiatives across cloud data lakes, warehouses, analytics, and BI environments.
