Sr Embedded Test Engineer – OTA & Connected Devices

Shift Information

• Monday‑Friday, flex hours around 9:00 am – 6:00 pm, onsite position (potential 5% travel to Naperville)
• Pay range starts at $58+/hr
• 12+ month contract to start; W2 contract (no 1099/C2C) with possibility of extension or conversion based on performance & budget

Responsibilities

• Lead a small validation team while owning end‑to‑end embedded system testing, including over‑the‑air (OTA) software update validation from backend systems through hardware devices
• Design and execute test strategies, automation, and validation scenarios to ensure high‑quality test coverage, reliability, and performance across connected device systems
• Collaborate with OEM partners and cross‑functional teams, analyze communication protocols, support system integration across cloud/backend environments, and maintain detailed documentation and test artifacts within PLM systems

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field (required)
• Advanced experience with embedded/device validation and owning end‑to‑end test execution (required)
• Strong experience with OTA testing, including designing validation scenarios and ensuring software update reliability (required)
• Experience with automotive/heavy equipment communication protocols (CAN, J1939, UDS) and related tools (CANalyzer/PCAN) (required)
• Experience developing automation tools or scripts to improve testing efficiency and coverage (required)
• Experience defining and executing test strategies, coverage, and validation frameworks (required)
• Experience designing or improving test frameworks and validation processes (preferred)
• Familiarity with cloud/backend systems (Azure/AWS) and connected device integration (preferred)
