About the Role
Reliserv Solution is hiring experienced Relay Testing & Commissioning Engineers for long‑term deployment with a leading power utility in the transmission sector. You will be part of a specialist team responsible for testing, commissioning, and condition monitoring of high‑voltage electrical equipment and protection systems up to 765 kV.
This is a field‑intensive role requiring strong hands‑on expertise with numerical protection relays of multiple makes, substation equipment, and the ability to independently execute and document testing activities as per client and industry protocols.
Key Responsibilities
1. Site Testing & Commissioning
- Test protection relays, schemes, and substation equipment up to 765 kV:
- Transformers, Reactors, Breakers, CT / PT / CVT, LA, ICTs, BCPUs
- Protection schemes: Line, Transformer, Busbar, Reactor, Underfrequency, Islanding, OLTS
- Perform functional checks, interlock verification, and scheme validation
- Coordinate with OEMs and project teams for defect resolution
- Update drawings, prepare site mark‑ups, and manage document versions
- Complete documentation: test results, measurement reports, defect lists, relay soft files, checklists
- Carry out refurbishment: replacement of electromechanical relays with numerical relays; ICS preparation
2. Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
- Conduct factory inspections of electrical equipment and protection systems
- Prepare inspection reports with defect summaries
- Review relay configurations and scheme drawings prior to FAT
3. Condition Monitoring & Routine Maintenance Testing
- Carry out routine protection trials as per defined protocols
- Protection testing across relay types:
- Line: Differential, Distance, Dir O/C & E/F, LBBU, OLTS
- Transformer: Differential, Overcurrent, E/F, Device Trials, OLTS
- Busbar: Centralised and Distributed Protection
- Under Frequency, Islanding schemes
- MV Feeders: O/C, E/F, Busbar Protection, Reverse Blocking Scheme
- Integrated Protection Trials including stability checks
- Relay setting adoption, configuration, and audit
- Equipment testing: Transformer, Reactor, Circuit Breaker, GIS, CT/PT/CVT, LA up to 765 kV
Qualifications & Skills
Education
- BE / B.Tech in Electrical Engineering (mandatory)
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience in testing of electrical equipment and protection systems
- Proven experience with multi‑make numerical relays across transmission / HV substation projects
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in operating different makes of relay test instruments (OMICRON, Megger, DOBLE, etc.)
- Ability to analyse and interpret test results independently
- Knowledge of protection relay setting principles and IEC / IS standards
- Troubleshooting skills during site testing and commissioning
- Familiarity with IEC 61850, protection schemes, and substation automation (preferred)
Soft Skills
- Strong documentation and report writing discipline
- Ability to work independently and coordinate with client teams on‑site
- Comfortable with travel and outstation deployment
Work & Deployment Details
- Primary location: Mumbai region | Outstation deployments as per project requirements (Pan‑India)
- Travel, accommodation, and food expenses covered by client for outstation assignments
- Local accommodation in Mumbai: Arranged by Reliserv Solution
- Working hours: As per client site norms
- Weekly off as per client practice; compensatory off provided if working on designated weekly off
- Engineers will undergo an interview/assessment by the client’s technical team before deployment
