The Northrop Grumman Microelectronics Center (NGMC) is seeking an exceptionally talented, motivated, and creative Staff Data Scientist for our Advanced Technology Lab (ATL) located outside of Baltimore, Maryland. ATL’s semiconductor foundry provides unique, leading-edge capability in microelectronic devices, enabling multiple generations of Northrop Grumman’s radar and space systems. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) pipelines utilizing Python and SQL.
- Perform data preparation/cleaning, integration, and automation from heterogeneous sources.
- Design, develop, and maintain automated data visualizations (e.g., in Tableau).
- Ensure data integrity and system availability.
- Identify and evaluate emerging AI/ML technologies and trends, and drive their adoption where appropriate.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Physics, Materials Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Data Science or a related field with 12 years of technical experience in the microelectronics industry; or a Master’s Degree with 10 years experience; or a PhD with 8 years experience.
- Knowledge of data gathering, cleansing, and transformation techniques.
- Experience with data science toolkits such as TensorFlow and PyTorch.
- Proficiency in Python or Matlab.
- Understanding of best practices in data analysis.
- Ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government secret clearance and any required program access within a reasonable period.
- Ability to obtain Secret-level clearance and US Citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with computer vision, including image classification.
- Proven experience with Extract, Transform & Load (ETL) techniques and frameworks.
- Background in researching and developing novel AI methods, especially in Foundational AI.
- Familiarity with Deep Reinforcement Learning, including Multi-Agent approaches.
- Domain knowledge in sensing, microelectronics, or semiconductor fabrication.
- Experience with data platforms (e.g., Palantir, Databricks, Denodo, etc.).
- Project/Program Management skills (proposal creation, scheduling, budget tracking).
- Ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance.
- Ability to travel 10-15% of the time.

- Compensation: Primary Level Salary Range: $179,600.00 - $269,400.00.
