About the Role
The Systems Cloud Engineer will work as a part of a team of server engineers supporting mission critical Server and Azure compute environments. The Systems Cloud Engineer will support all Bunzl’s business areas with the objective to maximize effective data processing, communications, server resources and business processes using Office 365, Azure, Windows Server, and other Office 365 technologies. This role will be critical in developing and implementing overall Office 365, Azure and Server governance, and policy. The role will actively drive technical process improvements and technology roadmaps, including defining improvements of existing environments, designing future architectures and refining the Bunzl information architecture.
Responsibilities
- Engineer complex and implement new Cloud, Windows Server, Azure, and other related Office 365 technologies and provide technical leadership to the department
- Assist in development of cloud strategy, including Microsoft O365 and Azure
- Develop technical integration plans for business acquisitions
- Administration and troubleshooting of Azure, Office 365, Windows and Linux server systems, and related technologies
- Develop and present training for the Server Systems and Cloud Application teams
- Administration and troubleshooting of Microsoft Active Directory, Global Policy Objects (GPOs), and related Microsoft technologies
- Research, development, and maintenance of server security in accordance with business standards and industry best-practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance
- Research, develop, and test new software and hardware
- Periodic “Disaster Recovery” drills during non-business hours
- Evaluate, design and architect server system solutions to meet emerging business requirements
- Create and maintain appropriate policies and architectural documentation
- Work within existing trouble ticketing system and self-manage projects in a timely fashion
- Participation in periodic 24/7 “on call” rotation duty to field critical server system support issues
Requirements
- High school or GED equivalent required
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science preferred or a related technical discipline or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience
- Solid knowledge and trouble-shooting skills with Windows Server, Azure, Office 365, and related technologies
- Working experience with Microsoft Active Directory, GPOs, and related technologies
- Microsoft Operating Systems, including Windows Server 2008, 2012, 2016, 2019, and newer
- Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Window Internet Name Service (WINS), and Domain Name Service (DNS) and related network services
- Scripting/programming, e.g., Visual Basic, PowerShell, etc…
- Knowledge of basic server security and system health monitoring (Windows, Linux/Unix)
- Server backup technologies and procedures
- Administration of Microsoft Exchange email systems (primarily Microsoft O365)
- Work in a fast-paced environment, with dynamically changing priorities requirements
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Customer service oriented
- Create required reports in response to management & business user needs
- Occasional travel and after-hours work required
- Team player and communicate effectively both verbally and in written form
