About
The Technical Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing IT infrastructure service delivery and operations within a high-availability, enterprise environment. This role ensures system reliability, performance, and adherence to established processes and best practices. The Technical Manager provides leadership to technical teams, drives operational excellence, and collaborates across the organization to support business-critical applications and infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of IT infrastructure service delivery and day-to-day operations in a 24x7, high-availability environment
- Ensure system uptime, reliability, and performance across enterprise platforms
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve operational procedures aligned with industry best practices
- Provide leadership, direction, and oversight to technical teams, ensuring effective service delivery and team performance
- Manage staffing activities including recruiting, onboarding, offboarding, and performance evaluations
- Conduct regular staffing reviews and ensure adequate service coverage
- Collaborate with development teams and IT peers to define technical specifications for new and existing applications
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues and end-user support requests in a timely manner
- Ensure adherence to organizational processes, standards, and compliance requirements
- Support and guide infrastructure architecture and design initiatives
- Oversee performance monitoring and optimization using enterprise tools
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Extensive experience in IT infrastructure operations and service delivery
- Proven experience leading and managing technical teams in an enterprise environment
- Strong knowledge of web server administration (e.g., JBoss, WebSphere, IIS/.NET)
- Experience with database administration (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, PostgreSQL)
- Familiarity with integration and middleware technologies (e.g., DataPower, MQ, IIB, ACE)
- Understanding of infrastructure architecture and enterprise system design
- Experience with application performance monitoring tools (e.g., Application Insights, SolarWinds, New Relic, AppDynamics, ArcGIS Monitor)
- Working knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS and/or Azure
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to work on-site as required
