Role: Technical Program Manager - GCP Location: Cape Town, SA Experience: 10+ years

Responsibilities

  • Managing customer communication, relationships, and escalation management.
  • Guide the client on technology evaluation, technical thought leadership, and direction for complex Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and cloud migration projects.
  • Constantly sync with the product and business team to align on business priorities and plan for long-term and short-term architecture goals.
  • Showcase thought leadership on GCP migration roadmaps, agile development methodologies, and best practices.
  • Challenge and inspire customers and peers to solve difficult problems with ambitious and novel solutions.
  • Own the complete project lifecycle by managing the solutioning, engineering, testing, release, and maintenance.
  • Lead large-scale data engagements featuring multiple work-streams, with a focus on Teradata to Google Cloud Platform (GCP) migrations.
  • Guide and help team members to debug and solve technical problems.
  • Project deliverables reviews and follow-through until issues closure, including conflict resolution and dependency management.
  • Work with the team to identify and qualify business opportunities.
  • Identify key customer technical objections—specifically regarding BigQuery performance or migration blockers—and develop strategies to resolve them.
  • Ensure proper skill development of team members.
  • Travel to customer sites, conferences, and other related events as required.

Requirements

  • Excellent client communication, analytical, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a dynamic and time-sensitive work environment.
  • Experience to manage a midsize team (40-50) is a must.
  • Experienced in managing mid-to-large size data and cloud engagements, with specialized experience in BigQuery and EDW migration projects (Teradata preferred).
  • Ability to discuss data management, data governance, and data integration related issues and provide a point of view.
  • Problem-solving mindset and ability to guide the team to resolve project issues.
  • Good grasp of risk management, scope management, and project profitability.

Nice to Have Skills

  • Hands-on design and solutioning experience using GCP BigQuery, Dataflow, and Composer.
  • Understanding of the latest trends in data management, cloud storage, and hybrid cloud architecture.
  • Good understanding of application data security and infrastructure security.
  • Experience and knowledge of critical phases of the sales process (RFP/RFI), including solution scoping and proposal building for data migrations.
  • Knowledge and willingness to learn and apply emerging trends in cloud, Open AI, data science, and Artificial Intelligence.
