About the role

This role is a key customer-focused technical sales expert who delivers in-depth technical insights and tailored design/implementation guidance to Red River's clients. The ideal candidate will have expertise in one or more technical fields, allowing them to act as a mentor and resource within the Red River Solution Engineering and Sales teams. This individual will provide architectural guidance for clients across Red River's wide-ranging product portfolio, which includes offerings from OEM partners. The Solutions Engineer is responsible for vital pre-sales engineering activities such as: 1) identifying customer business objectives and proposing technology solutions, 2) serving as the primary technical resource during sales engagements, and 3) maintaining active OEM certifications in their area of specialization. The role requires an understanding of Red River's diverse offerings across multiple technologies and architectures. In collaboration with Account Executives, this position will focus on understanding customer needs, ensuring the best possible technical solutions are created. Additionally, this role contributes valuable insights for internal initiatives, such as proposing new services based on Red River's capabilities and will assist in the technical interview process for potential Solution Engineering candidates.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Articulate technology and product recommendations, as well as architectural solutions for sales opportunities.
  • Act as the principal technical point of contact and sales lead for clients.
  • Provide foundational input for proposals and statements of work, ensuring alignment with customer desired outcomes.
  • Exhibit technical knowledge and consultative skills while collaborating with clients and team members.
  • Utilize advanced pre-sales engineering skills and in-depth knowledge in at least one specialization, such as Data Center, Collaboration, Security, Microsoft Modern Workplace, Cloud, or Route/Switch/Wireless. Familiarity with relevant product specifications and application performance criteria is essential.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of Red River's offerings, associated strengths, and opportunities.

Minimum Education/Certification/Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 10 years work experience.
  • 5 - 7 years of presales engineering experience required.
  • U.S. citizenship required for Federal positions; candidates must qualify for a Secret Clearance.
  • Active and verified OEM professional-level certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNP, CCDP) are necessary.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong technical aptitude and quick learning ability for new technologies.
  • Outstanding communication skills for effective verbal and written messaging.
  • A sound understanding of customer business outcomes, including knowledge of relevant industry verticals.
  • Familiarity with the sales process and proactive collaboration with Account Executives to achieve success.
  • Ability to link technology solutions to customer business challenges.
  • Experience in creating detailed implementation plans (SOW) for customer solutions, including timelines for project completion, validating SOW, BOM, and LOE before client delivery.
  • Capable of demonstrating solutions within their technical expertise.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a knack for building rapport and trust with clients, partners, and team members.
  • Commitment to maintaining and acquiring additional OEM and industry certifications as needed.
  • Previous experience supporting the Veterans Administration is a plus.

Essential Position Elements

This is an office-based position requiring prolonged periods of stationary work. The role necessitates continuous communication with colleagues throughout the day using approved communication tools.

Travel Requirements

Travel may be required and can be up to 50% based on the location of work.
