Technical Writer

What You’ll Do

• Review and provide feedback on draft and preliminary maintenance documents and technical manuals
• Validate test procedures during testing events both in the lab and on submarines, sometimes requiring shift work
• Create operations and maintenance procedures for technical manuals and training documents
• May need to travel to Rhode Island for training

Required Skills

• Must be a US Citizen
• Must have an active DoD Secret clearance
• Requires a Bachelor's or Technology degree in Engineering or a related specialized area/field, or equivalent (4 years job‑related experience) and 2+ years of job‑related experience, or a Master's degree
• Experience using S1000D or XML to develop and publish Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals
• Ability to prepare documentation for delivery in a variety of formats (e.g., .doc, .PDF, HTML and XML/SGML‑tagged online and IETM)
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of military/commercial requirements/specifications
• Previous Navy experience is a PLUS
• Prior technical writing for submarines is a PLUS
• Any knowledge/experience with Common Weapons Launcher (CWL)/Multi Tube Weapons Simulator (MTWS) is a PLUS

Compensation

• Pay range: $45.00/hour – $50.00/hour
