Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Technical Writer to join our Engineering team within the Data Center Cooling manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving clear, accurate, and user-friendly documentation that supports manufacturing processes, assembly, and quality standards. A key focus of this role will be creating both written and video-based work instructions to ensure consistency, efficiency, and safety across production operations. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, write, and maintain detailed work instructions for manufacturing, assembly, and testing processes.
  • Create and edit video work instructions to visually demonstrate procedures, tools, and best practices.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to gather technical information and ensure documentation accuracy.
  • Standardize documentation formats, templates, and terminology across the organization.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and easy-to-follow instructions for shop floor personnel.
  • Update documentation in response to engineering changes, process improvements, and quality feedback.
  • Ensure all documentation complies with company standards, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives by identifying gaps or inefficiencies in current documentation.
  • Manage document control processes, including versioning, approvals, and distribution.
  • Support training initiatives by providing clear instructional materials and multimedia content.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Engineering, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 2-5 years of experience in technical writing within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Strong ability to understand mechanical and/or electrical systems, preferably in cooling systems.
  • Experience creating video-based instructional content (recording, editing, and publishing).
  • Proficiency with documentation tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, or similar).
  • Familiarity with video editing tools (e.g., Camtasia, Adobe Premiere, or similar).
  • Experience with document control systems or PLM systems is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% by air, car, and overnight.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in the data center cooling or industrial equipment manufacturing industry.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced production environment.

Attendance on a regular, consistent basis is mandatory.

Onsite at any FCH DCC location with 50% Travel

Salary Range

$62,500-$75K with 2% quarterly bonus
