The User Experience Project Leader will join the Innovation Team, serving as in-house consultants who collaborate with clients to co-create transformative solutions and drive innovation across all departments. This role is crucial for effectively addressing major urban challenges using cutting-edge digital tools and approaches.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enhance digital service delivery for various departments.
  • Lead significant transformations involving numerous stakeholders and agencies.
  • Apply critical thinking to challenge conventional methods and find innovative solutions to obstacles.
  • Utilize existing research and gather new data to inform the redesign of the digital hiring system.
  • Organize cross-departmental workshops to map business processes, connecting them with user research and city technology capabilities.
  • Conduct usability testing to identify pain points for job applicants and hiring staff.
  • Create site maps, flow diagrams, storyboards, and wireframes to alleviate pain points and enhance the hiring experience.
  • Collaborate with the PeopleSoft expert to prioritize and implement system modifications based on user insights.
  • Leverage UX expertise to design a seamless and efficient hiring process for all users.
  • Apply UI style guides to develop visual designs for all website pages within the PeopleSoft system and assist in testing and refining these designs.
  • Lead the integration of UX and UI improvements on the hiring website in partnership with the Department of Human Resources.
  • Establish and track performance targets to measure impact and adjust strategies as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or relevant practical experience in user experience, human-centered design, collaborative solution creation, and visual communication.
  • Over 10 years of professional experience in a relevant field.
  • Expertise in human-centered design innovation, UX design, and visual design, including research, data synthesis, co-creation, prototyping, testing, iteration, and implementation.
  • Proven ability to manage complex digital design and implementation projects in a government context.
  • Experience conducting user research and transforming raw data into actionable insights.
  • Ability to simplify complex data and present it in an easily digestible format.
  • Capacity to work both independently and collaboratively, leveraging the strengths of team members.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with team members, city staff, and diverse community stakeholders.
  • Experience leading workshops and meetings with senior-level stakeholders.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex situations in both written and verbal forms.
  • Genuine desire to enhance local government services.
  • High level of resilience and patience while engaging with individuals with varying interests in digital service redesign.
  • Solid project management skills, with a track record of delivering measurable results on time and within budget.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Familiarity with PeopleSoft (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Knowledge of HTML.
  • Proficiency in Figma, Miro, Adobe Sketch (or equivalent), MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook.

Work Schedule and Environment

  • In-office work is required four days a week, Monday to Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM.
  • Occasional after-hours work may be necessary to seize specific research opportunities.
