Data Scientist
AVILOO Battery Diagnostics
About the role
About AVILOO
Founded in 2018, AVILOO is a worldwide leader in battery diagnostics for electric vehicles. With over 90 employees, we shape the global market for remarketing and after-sales of e-vehicles — together with leading car manufacturers, leasing companies, test centers and dealers.
We are a fast-growing tech company that values innovation, team spirit and entrepreneurial courage. And that’s exactly why we are looking for you — a Data Scientist who thinks ahead, helps shape things and grows with us.
We are a team that enjoys working together — in person, not just through screens. If you prefer real conversations, quick decisions and shared breaks, you’ll fit right in. We work from the office because collaboration simply works better here.
We are not a company of buzzwords or fads. We stand for performance, pragmatism and common sense — with a dash of humor and genuine team energy. What counts here is what you can do and how you contribute.
We want to win you for our dynamic and performance-oriented team and to share the joy of AVILOO’s success. Your satisfaction is the CEO’s business:
“We take care of our people. While performance is important to us, we also ensure a good work–life balance. As a father of five, I know that parents in particular need flexibility. I guarantee that flexibility to you!” — Dr. Marcus Berger, CEO
What to expect
Work on challenging research and development problems in battery diagnostics, specifically:
- Perform statistical analyses on EV and high-voltage battery data
- Develop and refine machine learning methods for battery systems
- Support the design, implementation, and testing of new diagnostic procedures
- Build and validate models for assessing EV high-voltage batteries
- Collaborate closely with our Battery Analytics and Data Engineering teams
- Contribute to improving and automating our testing processes
What you bring
We welcome both experienced data scientists and recent graduates — what matters most is strong analytical thinking and a solid academic foundation. You should have:
- A completed degree in statistics, mathematics, physics, computer science, or a comparable quantitative field (excellent academic record valued, especially for early-career applicants)
- Solid knowledge of statistics and data analysis
- Genuine interest in developing test and measurement procedures
- Interest in electric vehicles and energy storage systems (lithium-ion batteries)
- The ability to bridge theory and practice meaningfully
- Programming skills, ideally in Python
- Excellent English or German skills
- An independent, structured, and precise way of working
- Strong willingness to learn and enthusiasm for new challenges
- Prior industry experience is a plus but not required — if you've graduated with strong results and a quantitative mindset, we'd like to hear from you.
What we offer
- Work at the frontier of battery diagnostics development
- Access to AVILOO's globally unique EV battery database
- A central role at the heart of our Research and Data Science team
- A dynamic team that's genuinely breaking new ground
- The chance to drive worldwide innovation leadership in an exponentially growing market
