The Role
As the Senior Manager, Data Science, you will lead the design and validation of advanced analytics methodologies. This is a high-visibility leadership role responsible for ensuring research rigor across syndicated and ad-hoc data products. You will oversee a team of four specialists, integrating diverse data sources and applying machine learning and statistical approaches to shape the future of audience measurement.
Main Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership: Lead the Data Science team in developing and reviewing weighting, fusion, calibration, and attribution processes.
- Model Oversight: Oversee the application of data mining and hybrid methodologies, vetting models developed both internally and by external business partners.
- Executive Presentation: Act as a key subject matter expert, presenting complex data simulations and reports to C-suite executives and stakeholders.
- Innovation: Develop new approaches for data production and usability, leveraging LLMs and synthetic population frameworks to drive efficiency.
- Collaboration: Partner closely with Product, Technology, and Operations teams to ensure data integrity and business impact for clients.
Must Haves
- Education: Master’s or Doctorate degree in Statistics, Data Science, or a related quantitative field. (Candidates with Bachelor's Degree along with Accredited Statistician (P.Stat.) or Advanced Data Science certifications will also be considered)
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in a Data Science leadership role or equivalent advanced academic background.
- Technical Depth: Expertise in theoretical and applied statistics (sample design, forecasting) and proficiency in Python or R.
- Communication: Exceptional communication skills with a proven ability to present technical findings to non-technical executive leadership.
- Leadership: Demonstrated experience in people management and mentoring technical teams.
Nice to Haves
- Accredited Statistician (P.Stat.) or Advanced Data Science certifications.
- Familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs) and synthetic population frameworks.
- Experience within the media or broadcast measurement industry.
Total Rewards & Info
- Salary Range: $120,000 – $150,000 CAD per year + Annual Incentive Plan (AIP) bonus.
- Work Model: Hybrid (2-3 days per week in the North York/Toronto office).
