Data Scientist

Your role in the team

• Analysis, processing, and interpretation of process data from surgical planning and the manufacturing of patient-specific implants.
• Identification of patterns, bottlenecks, and optimization potential along complex medical and technical processes.
• Design and development of a simulation environment to retrospectively simulate processes, test new approaches, and evaluate various scenarios.
• Use of Discrete Event Simulation (DES) and/or Agent-Based Simulation (ABS) for modeling real‑world processes.
• Close collaboration with medical experts, development, and production teams for the technical validation of the models.
• Documentation and presentation of the results for both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

What we offer

• The annual minimum salary is €53,802 gross based on full‑time employment.

Our expectations

Qualifications

• Knowledge of simulation methods, particularly discrete event simulation and/or agent‑based simulation.
• Excellent programming skills, e.g., in Python (pandas, numpy, simpy, mesa or comparable frameworks).
• Analytical thinking and the ability to model complex processes in a structured manner.
• Independent, structured way of working as well as strong communication and team skills.
• Strong curiosity, independent working style, and a research‑driven mindset with enthusiasm for medical questions with real impact.

Experience

• Experience in data preparation, data analysis, and data visualization, ideally with complex process or time series data.
• Experience in a medical, industrial, or regulated environment is advantageous but not mandatory.

Education

• Completed degree (Master/PhD) in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, Simulation Science, or a related field.
