Role Summary

Raytheon is seeking a Data Scientist to support Radar Sensor Systems (RSS). As a Data Scientist, you will work across functional areas to support the application of data science and software engineering methods and techniques for production‑scale internal use and external research. You will collaborate with stakeholders across and the Applied Artificial Intelligence team to develop analytic products for agile delivery, spanning manufacturing, engineering, business development, and supply chain functions. This role allows you to influence organizational standards by researching and deploying technical solutions for customers as part of a broader ecosystem of machine learning and advanced analytics professionals. This is an onsite role in Plano, TX.

What You Will Do

  • Design and develop data visualizations using tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, or similar platforms to communicate insights effectively.
  • Perform data analysis on large, complex data sets, generating actionable reports and recommendations.
  • Utilize experience with various databases for data input, report generation, and data management.
  • Apply machine learning algorithms for data cleaning, exploratory data analysis, and data visualization.
  • Implement data reduction, feature selection, and feature engineering techniques to provide metrics that support evidence‑based decision‑making.
  • Automate processes to enhance efficiency and scalability in handling large datasets.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to communicate findings and address technical challenges.
  • Conduct analysis at all phases of the system lifecycle, including concept, design, modeling, testing, operation, and maintenance.
  • Interface with stakeholders, including customers, program management, and senior leadership, to support data‑driven strategies.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Python development (numpy, scipy, scikit‑image, and scikit‑learn) for integration into statistical and/or machine learning applications (beyond academic examples).
  • Databases management and SQL development.
  • Experience with software development, including documentation, testing, bug tracking, version control, and MLOps.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued DoD Top Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Programming languages and tools such as Python, scikit‑learn, Jupyter, SQL (Microsoft SQL, MySQL), Tableau, and R.
  • Ability to analyze data to support and drive strategic decisions.
  • Advanced degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM preferred).
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage timelines, and communicate complex technical concepts to non‑specialists.
  • Experience providing actionable recommendations on data utilization for bids and proposals.
  • Present data effectively to senior leadership and communicate technical insights clearly.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance with investigation within five years.
  • Advanced degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM preferred).
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage timelines, and communicate complex technical concepts to non‑specialists.
  • Experience managing a team with cost and schedule requirements and/or Earned Value Management.
  • Model Based Systems Engineering (Cameo Enterprise Architecture (SysML specifically), digital thread concepts, digital engineering, MBSE with DevSecOps).
  • Diagnose and resolve RF and system power issues.
  • MATLAB/Simulink, DOORS, DNG, Cameo, Jira, and Confluence.

Salary Range

68,900 USD – 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good‑faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
