Financial Reporting Accountant

About the Role

As a Senior Financial Accountant in the newly formed India-based extension of the UK Finance team supporting the UK Pathways business and wider global finance function, you will be responsible for establishing robust financial accounting processes, strengthening internal controls, and ensuring a high-quality month‑end close and reporting cycle. You will collaborate with the Senior Financial Accountant, Finance Manager International, Accounts Assistants, and report to the Head of Financial Accounting. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of the company's expansion in Bengaluru and influence processes while supporting future scalability.

Key Responsibilities

• Play a key part in the monthly close cycle, ensuring timely closure of books and accurate completion of balance sheet reconciliations
• Take ownership of specific technical and transformation areas, including leading UK GAAP lease accounting changes and supporting the setup of accounting processes for the upcoming change in the finance ledger
• Maintain Fixed Asset and Intangible Asset Registers, and work in progress registers
• Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations
• Collaborate with IT and operational stakeholders to account for capital work‑in‑progress (CIP)
• Assist in completing various month‑end accounting journals, reporting, and reconciliations
• Prepare trial balances, statutory audit support schedules, and consolidation reporting packs for UK statutory accounts
• Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and responding to queries
• Review and enhance accounting processes to improve efficiency and accuracy

Qualifications Required

• Be a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA), CMA/ICWA, CPA, or equivalent
• Have 2+ years of post‑qualification experience in financial accounting or reporting
• Experience with IFRS and/or US GAAP is advantageous
• Proficient in Excel, including Pivot Tables and XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP
• Familiarity with ERP systems like Business Central or Great Plains
• Experience with tools such as Power Query, Power BI, workflow automation tools for reporting and close efficiency is beneficial

In addition to the above, the role will suit someone comfortable taking ownership of technical accounting areas and enhancing existing processes as the business grows and evolves.
