About the role

Position Overview

Our client, a leader in innovative technology solutions, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Data Scientist specializing in Machine Learning to join their dynamic team in Baltimore, Maryland, US. This pivotal role will lead the development and deployment of advanced machine learning models to solve complex business problems, drive strategic decision-making, and enhance product capabilities. The role is Hybrid, allowing for strategic on-site leadership with flexibility for remote data analysis and model development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, implementation, and deployment of machine learning models and algorithms.
  • Identify key business challenges and translate them into data science problems and solutions.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product management, and business stakeholders to integrate ML models into production systems.
  • Perform extensive data exploration, feature engineering, and model validation.
  • Develop and maintain robust data pipelines and MLOps practices for model deployment and monitoring.
  • Mentor and guide junior data scientists and analysts, fostering a culture of innovation and technical excellence.
  • Stay current with the latest research in machine learning, AI, and data science.
  • Communicate complex findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Design and conduct A/B tests and experiments to evaluate model performance and business impact.
  • Contribute to the strategic direction of the data science function within the organization.
  • Ensure the ethical and responsible use of data and AI technologies.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in data science and machine learning, with at least 3 years in a lead or senior role.
  • Expertise in various machine learning techniques (e.g., supervised/unsupervised learning, deep learning, NLP, time series analysis).
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and libraries like TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, Pandas, and NumPy.
  • Strong experience with SQL and working with large datasets from various sources.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop).
  • Proven ability to manage complex data science projects from conception to production.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Experience with MLOps tools and best practices is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop junior team members.
