Job Overview

The Digital and Technology team at General Mills is the largest and foremost unit, dedicated to exploring the latest trends and innovations in technology while leading the adoption of cutting‑edge technologies across the organization. Collaborating closely with global business teams, the focus is on understanding business models and identifying opportunities to leverage technology for increased efficiency and disruption. The team’s expertise spans AI/ML, Data Science, IoT, NLP, Cloud, Infrastructure, RPA and Automation, Digital Transformation, Cyber Security, Blockchain, SAP S/4 HANA and Enterprise Architecture.

Purpose of the Role

• This position plays a significant role in the definition and implementation of our overarching SAP S/4 solutions and applications strategy, including functional roadmaps, architecture, design and implementation for Supply Chain solutions.
• The role performs work that is highly complex, varied in nature, and spans multiple functional areas.
• It seeks to ensure optimum utilization of existing core platforms and their integration while considering and/or facilitating the justified deployment of new technologies in response to business requirements.
• As a Lead Solution Architect, you will be part of our SAP Platform & Strategic Initiatives team, responsible for guiding strategic thought leadership across our SAP ecosystem, including functional & technical design & architecture, coaching & mentoring broader D&T talent, and successful delivery of strategic initiatives.

Key Accountabilities

• Lead or advise on Supply Chain (Plan, Source, Make, Inventory Pillars) solutions roadmap and projects.
• Understand supply chain business processes and requirements related to SAP solutions by engaging through D&T with business partners and SAP practitioners at enterprise level.
• Conduct comparative research and recommend strategies with regards to SAP technologies to propose and implement solutions for business needs.
• Perform discovery projects by engaging with business units and SAP team members to find the best possible solutions for GMI.
• Lead, consult or participate in end‑to‑end implementations while also engaging as a functional solution architect in other parallel SAP projects.
• Craft adaptable, comprehensive, and feasible solutions by creating necessary blueprint documents for functional requirements and technical specifications.
• Lead, review and/or participate in solution design, build, test and go‑live activities on SAP Supply Chain solutions implementations, rollouts, or upgrade projects.
• Learn and understand existing system landscape to design solutions for efficient and effective integration of SAP systems with other business applications.
• Review current standards and continuously revise to ensure best practices.
• Serve as the conduit through D&T to enable businesses and technology.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor or advanced degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Accounting, or Business from an accredited institution or equivalent.
• 10+ years of progressive SAP solutioning hands‑on experience leading up to architect‑level work.

Preferred Qualifications (Technical Skills)

• Deep expertise on one or more SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4 modules such as Materials Management (MM), Production Planning (PP), Inventory Management (IM), Quality Management (QM), WM (Warehouse Management).
• Experience on multiple S/4 implementations with focus on specific supply chain areas (e.g., production planning, production execution, procurement, inventory management) and integration with other S/4 capabilities or third‑party systems (MES, 3PL, etc.).
• Knowledge of cross‑functional integration with order management, transportation management and finance processes.
• Hands‑on experience with complex and large‑scale SAP project implementations.
• Ability to convert business challenges into technical solutions.
• Time management skills and the ability to prioritize multiple parallel activities.
• Collaborative nature with a strong focus on enabling team culture.
• Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate with team members across multiple geographies, as well as with third‑party team members & vendors.
• Strong and effective influencing, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
• Willingness to work off business hours as needed.
• Knowledge of required SAP localizations for the geographies where GMI has business operations (Europe, Brazil, Asian countries).
• Waterfall and agile project management expertise.
• Experience using integration tools (e.g., WebMethods, APIs technologies, etc.).
• Experience in automated testing tools and methodologies.
