About the role
Our client is seeking a highly accomplished and visionary Lead Data Scientist to join their cutting-edge analytics team. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within Canada, with a primary focus on driving innovative data-driven solutions. You will lead a team of talented data scientists, mentor junior members, and spearhead the development and deployment of sophisticated machine learning models and analytical frameworks. Key Responsibilities: Lead the design, development, and implementation of advanced machine learning models, statistical analyses, and data mining techniques. Mentor and guide a team of data scientists, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, engineering, and business stakeholders, to identify key business challenges and opportunities that can be addressed with data science. Define project roadmaps, manage timelines, and ensure the timely delivery of high-quality data science solutions. Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and infrastructure for model training and deployment. Stay abreast of the latest research and advancements in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science, and advocate for their adoption where appropriate. Communicate complex analytical findings and recommendations clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences. Oversee the end-to-end process of model development, from data collection and preprocessing to model validation and production deployment. Champion data governance, best practices, and ethical considerations in all data science initiatives. Drive innovation by exploring new data sources, methodologies, and technologies. Conduct rigorous experimentation and A/B testing to validate hypotheses and measure the impact of data-driven interventions. Contribute to the strategic vision of the data science function within the organization. Qualifications: Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, or a related quantitative field. Minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in data science, machine learning, and statistical modeling, with a proven track record of delivering impactful solutions. Extensive experience with programming languages such as Python or R, and their associated data science libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Pandas, NumPy). Deep understanding of various machine learning algorithms, including supervised, unsupervised, and deep learning techniques. Experience with big data technologies and distributed computing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Hadoop). Proficiency in SQL and experience working with large, complex datasets. Demonstrated experience in leading and mentoring technical teams. Excellent problem-solving, critical-thinking, and analytical skills. Superb communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and MLOps practices is a strong asset. Ability to thrive in a fully remote, collaborative work environment. Requirements
