Overview

We are working with a fast-growing, innovation-led organisation looking to bring in a Senior Data Scientist with strong applied AI/ML experience on a contract basis, with a clear pathway to a permanent role.

This role is focused on building real-world AI systems, not just experimentation. You will work on advanced use cases involving LLMs, generative AI, and connected data systems, delivering tools that directly impact business operations and client outcomes.

The Role

You will operate as a hands-on builder, taking ownership of AI solutions from concept through to production.

This is not a research-only role — you will be expected to design, build, and deploy production-ready systems that integrate across multiple data sources.

What You’ll Be Doing • Build AI systems that connect and reason across multiple data sources (CRM, financial systems, documents, emails, etc.) • Design and implement LLM-powered solutions, including: • Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems • Semantic search and knowledge retrieval • AI-driven automation workflows • Deliver practical use cases such as: • Automated meeting briefings • Proposal and document drafting • Portfolio analytics and reporting • KPI tracking and anomaly detection • Work closely with engineers to productionize models and deploy scalable systems • Turn early-stage AI concepts into robust, user-facing tools • Contribute to architecture decisions across data, models, and system design

Core Requirements • Strong experience as a Data Scientist with applied AI/ML focus (not purely academic) • Hands-on experience with LLMs, generative AI, or NLP systems • Strong Python skills (Pandas, NumPy, PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar) • Experience working with both structured and unstructured data • Proven ability to build end-to-end solutions (idea → deployment) • Strong understanding of how to integrate models into real systems and workflows • Excellent problem-solving ability in ambiguous, fast-moving environments

Nice to Have • Experience with: • RAG architectures, embeddings, and vector databases • Semantic search systems • Knowledge graphs or connected data systems • AI agents / multi-step reasoning systems • Cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP) • Research background (MSc / PhD beneficial but not required)
