Job Purpose
Cinergie Digital is seeking a Senior Software Engineer – Database & BI to be deployed with our airline client, a major international airline headquartered in Dubai, to support the Reservations BI Enhancement programme. The successful candidate will design and build robust database and data integration solutions, working across complex and disparate data sources to deliver transformation, analysis, and warehousing capabilities. The role requires strong SQL and PL/SQL expertise combined with mandatory Oracle Database experience and working knowledge of Amazon Redshift or a comparable cloud data warehouse, and the ability to generate actionable data insights for cross-functional business and IT teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Database Design & Development: Design and build database solutions including schemas, stored procedures, and data pipelines to support reservations BI and back-office reporting requirements.
- SQL & PL/SQL Engineering: Write, optimise, and debug complex SQL queries and PL/SQL procedures; apply advanced techniques for bulk data processing and performance tuning of data flows and queries.
- Data Integration & Warehousing: Work with complex, disparate data sources to perform data transformation, cleansing, and analysis across Oracle and Amazon Redshift environments.
- Requirements & Solution Design: Gather and analyse data integration requirements; design scalable solutions that align technical architecture with business objectives.
- Reporting & Analytics: Build reports and dashboards to generate data insights; support business and IT stakeholders with timely, accurate data to drive operational decisions.
- Troubleshooting & Collaboration: Identify and resolve data-related issues efficiently; collaborate with cross-functional IT and business teams to deliver shared programme goals.
Required Skills & Experience
Experience
- 5–8 years in database engineering or data integration roles;
- experience delivering BI and data warehouse solutions in enterprise environments.
SQL & PL/SQL
- Strong skills in writing, optimising, and debugging complex SQL queries and stored procedures;
- experience with bulk data processing and advanced PL/SQL techniques.
Oracle Database
- Mandatory: hands‑on Oracle Database experience including data modelling, schema design, and query optimisation. Candidates without Oracle experience will not be considered.
Redshift / Cloud DW
- Required: working experience with Amazon Redshift or a comparable cloud data warehouse platform (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery); ability to optimise queries and manage data flows in a cloud environment.
Data Integration
- Expertise in gathering and analysing data integration requirements; ability to design and build scalable ETL/ELT solutions and data warehouse pipelines.
Performance Tuning
- Proven experience in performance tuning of SQL queries and data flows; ability to identify bottlenecks and implement optimisations at scale.
Big Data & Cloud
- Experience with Hadoop, Hive, or Spark frameworks and AWS cloud services is preferred; familiarity with cloud‑based data architectures is an advantage.
Domain
- Airline or travel sector experience is preferred; understanding of reservations, revenue, or back‑office data domains is an advantage.
