Role Overview
As a Software Engineer – Warehouse Management, you will contribute to the design, development, enhancement, and migration of warehouse management functionalities from SAP WM to SAP EWM. You will work closely with architects, functional analysts, and cross-functional technical teams to convert business requirements into scalable, maintainable software solutions that support complex warehouse operations. This role is hands‑on, development‑focused, and is critical to ensuring a smooth transition from legacy WM processes to modern, high‑performing EWM capabilities within the S/4HANA landscape.
Job Requirements
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field
- SAP EWM or SAP WM certification preferred
- Agile / Scrum certification is a plus
Required Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in SAP WM with hands‑on development exposure
- Strong understanding of WM objects, warehouse processes, and migration considerations
- Experience working in SAP S/4HANA environments and integrating with modules such as MM, SD, and TM
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in ABAP development (Reports, Enhancements, BADIs, User Exits, OO‑ABAP)
- Hands‑on experience with EWM development objects including queues, RF screens, warehouse tasks, and warehouse orders
- Experience building interfaces using IDocs, BAPIs, RFCs, OData services, and APIs
- Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting integration, queue failures, and warehouse execution issues
- Experience working with SAP BTP, Fiori/UI5 is an advantage
- Ability to write clean, maintainable, performance‑optimized code
Desired Skills
- Experience supporting cutover activities for WM to EWM migration
- Understanding of decentral EWM and embedded EWM architectures
- Exposure to automated warehousing, scanners, mobility solutions, and RF frameworks
Roles & Responsibilities
Development & Execution
- Develop, enhance, and maintain SAP WM and EWM custom objects supporting migration and steady‑state operations
- Build and validate interfaces between EWM and related systems (ERP, transportation, scanning devices, middleware)
- Perform code retrofitting, technical redesign, and remediation for WM → EWM migration
- Conduct detailed technical analysis for gaps and design required customizations
Migration Support
- Support data conversion and migration activities (warehouse master data, stock, open tasks)
- Collaborate with functional and QA teams for integration, regression, and performance testing
- Analyze queue failures (SMQ1/SMQ2), dumps (ST22), logs (SM21), and support defect resolution
- Assist in cutover planning, mock runs, and go‑live hypercare
Technical Excellence & Collaboration
- Ensure adherence to coding standards, performance guidelines, and security requirements
- Participate in design and code reviews to uphold development quality
- Work closely with Solution Architects and business teams to translate technical needs into executable solutions
- Prepare and maintain technical specifications, test scripts, and deployment documentation
