About
An Ultra High Net Worth Family Office with a diversified portfolio of investments is seeking a hands‑on Senior Investment Accountant to join their lean, collaborative team. This individual will play a key role in the day‑to‑day accounting needs across multiple entities, including investment accounting, corporate accounting, and expense management. The ideal candidate is resourceful, detail‑oriented, and comfortable working in a confidential, fast‑moving environment that supports UHNW individuals.
The Senior Investment Accountant will support the financial operations of the family office across a variety of accounting functions. This role primarily touches investment accounting (hedge funds, private equity, real estate) in addition to corporate accounting, bill pay and expense tracking, and light tax support. The position offers broad exposure to the full financial picture of a sophisticated family office structure. A background in family office accounting or direct HNW client work is required.
Primarily remote, with required onsite presence 4–5 days per month at their office within walking distance to Penn Station.
Responsibilities
- Record, track, and reconcile investment activity across hedge funds, private equity, real estate, and other alternative investments
- Manage capital calls, distributions, management fees, and investment performance reporting
- Prepare monthly financial statements, journal entries, bank reconciliations, and accruals across multiple entities
- Maintain detailed investment schedules and assist with quarterly and annual reporting
- Process invoices, bill pay, reimbursements, and vendor payments while monitoring cash flow and spending
- Reconcile credit card activity and maintain accurate expense records
- Provide documentation and support for individual, partnership, trust, and corporate tax filings
- Assist with quarterly tax payments, projections, and year‑end preparation in coordination with external tax advisors
- Support month‑end and year‑end closing processes and related reporting
- Work closely with leadership on financial analyses, special projects, and process improvements
- Liaise with vendors, service providers, and external accountants as needed
- Maintain strict confidentiality around all financial and personal information
Qualifications
- 3–10 years of accounting experience; family office or HNW client experience required
- Solid understanding of investment accounting/investment vehicles (Hedge Fund/Private Equity/Real Estate)
- Experience with corporate accounting, general ledger, and multi‑entity work
- Working familiarity with bill pay and cash management processes
- Exposure to HNW tax support workflows
- QuickBooks proficiency is a plus
- Strong Excel skills and ability to work in a small, fast‑moving environment
- High attention to detail, strong communication skills, and sound judgment
- Ability to be onsite 4–5 days per month at their office near Penn Station
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $100k‑$150k plus bonus
