User Experience Designer
Montro AI
About the role
About Montro
AI tools are the new shadow IT. 26 of the top 50 shadow apps discovered in 2025 are AI tools. 70% of ChatGPT users hide their usage from their employer. And European organisations now face mandatory compliance obligations under the EU AI Act, DORA, and NIS2 that most platforms were never built to address.
Montro is the EU-native AI Governance and SaaS Intelligence Platform built for this moment. We help European IT and security teams discover, control, and comply across every SaaS app and AI tool in their organisation — before regulators or auditors do it for them.
Purpose-built in Dublin. Not retrofitted from a US tool. Not bolted onto a legacy platform.
We're at an exciting stage — product in build, first design partners coming on board, and a market that's wide open. The SaaS governance space is worth $4.6 billion today and growing fast. No European-native vendor owns the AI governance position we're building.
If you want to join a small founding team doing something genuinely new in a market that matters, this is the moment.
The Role
Montro is building the EU-native AI Governance and SaaS Intelligence Platform for European mid-market organisations — and we need a designer who can make something complex feel simple, intuitive, and trustworthy.
This is a founding design hire. You will own the end-to-end product design experience — from the first screen a prospect sees in our self-assessment tool to the dashboards a CISO uses to govern their organisation's AI exposure. You will work directly with the co-founders and the India-based development team, shaping both how the product looks and how it works.
If you want to define the visual and interaction language of a product from scratch, in a space that genuinely matters, this is that opportunity.
What You Will Do
Product design
- Own the end-to-end design of the Montro platform — information architecture, user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity UI
- Design core product surfaces: the AI discovery dashboard, compliance mapping views, risk scoring interfaces, and governance workflow screens
- Build and maintain a scalable design system that the India development team can implement consistently and efficiently
- Translate complex regulatory and technical concepts — EU AI Act risk tiers, DORA compliance gaps, shadow AI exposure — into interfaces that feel clear and actionable
Research and iteration
- Conduct user research with design partners and early customers — CISOs, IT Directors, DPOs — to understand how they think about AI governance and what they need from a platform
- Test designs early and iterate based on real feedback, not assumptions
- Identify friction points in the product and propose solutions proactively
Brand and marketing design
- Own the visual consistency of Montro across product, marketing, and sales materials
- Design client-facing assets: audit reports, one-pagers, event materials, and pitch decks
- Contribute to the self-assessment tool UX — the primary lead generation and market research instrument
What We Are Looking For
Essential
- 3–6 years of product design experience, ideally in B2B SaaS
- A portfolio that demonstrates strong UX thinking — not just visual craft but clear problem-solving and user‑centred decision making
- Proficiency in Figma — components, auto‑layout, prototyping, and developer handoff
- Experience designing data‑heavy interfaces: dashboards, tables, filters, reporting views
- Comfortable working in a fast‑moving early‑stage environment where requirements evolve
- Strong communicator — able to present and defend design decisions to non‑designers clearly
Nice to have
- Experience designing for compliance, security, or enterprise IT products
- Familiarity with EU regulatory concepts — GDPR, EU AI Act, DORA, NIS2
- Experience building or contributing to a design system from scratch
- Basic understanding of front‑end constraints — you design with implementation in mind
What You Get
- Full ownership of product design at a company building something genuinely new
- Direct collaboration with both co‑founders from day one
- The chance to define the design language of a platform from scratch — not inherit someone else's system
- Work that sits at the intersection of enterprise software, AI governance, and European regulation — a space that is only going to grow
- Hybrid working from Dublin, high‑trust and results‑focused
- Competitive salary plus equity
